| On July 6, 1998 - Scot Cherry caught this 140 lb. thresher shark while boardfishing for yellowtail. Catch of a lifetime on 30 lb. test from a board! He hooked it about 1 mile off Scripps Pier, finally gaffed and subdued it after an hour and a half and paddled it in at Windansea. The shark pulled him over 5 miles during the battle, at times fast enough to see a wake behind his board. Unreal. |
