- Woody Brown
- Eighty-one years old. Pioneer surfer, glider pilot, and sailor. Designed the
first surfboard in California with a "skeg" (fin), the predecessor to the
modern surfboard. Also designed the original catamaran. Pioneered surfing big
waves on the North Shore of Oahu. Was with Dickie Cross in 1943 when he died
at Waimea Bay when they had to paddle in there because they were closed out by
huge surf at Sunset. This death increased the mystique of Waimea Bay until
Mickey Munoz, Greg Noll and others surfed it in 1957.
- Dick Dale
- "King of the Surf Guitar". Originator of surf music and creator of the driving,
rhythmic guitar sound associated with classic "surf guitar".
- Carl Ekstrom
- Legendary surfboard shaper who continues to lead the development of surfboard
technology.
- Skip Frye
- "King of Glide". Perhaps the most famous "soul" surfer in the world today.
Influential stylist and surfboard designer.
- Sam George
- Associate editor of Surfer Magazine.
- Brad Gerlach
- Rated the second best surfer in the world in 1992. Quit competition in 1993
because he felt it interfered with the art of surfing.
- Rabbit Kekai
- One of the original Hawaiian beach boys and friend of Duke Kahanamoku.
Considered the father of "hotdogging". One of the greatest surfers of modern
times.
- Titus Kinimaka
- Hawaiian big wave rider and musician.
- Tom Morey
- Designer of the Boogey Board. One of the best California surfers of the early
1960's.
- Mickey Munoz
- Big wave rider and surfboard shaper. Famous for the "Quasimodo" stance.
- Greg Noll
- Known as Da Bull. Famous big wave rider, filmmaker, and long board shaper.
- Steve Pezman
- Owner and publisher of The Surfer's Journal, past editor of Surfer
Magazine. Surfing historian.
- Rusty Preisendorfer
- Owner of Rusty Surfboards and board shaper for many World Tour competitors.
Markets his surf related products in over twenty-five different countries.
- Randy Rarick
- Expert Hawaiian big wave rider. Co-founder of the World Surfing Tour.
Presently working for Bruce Brown, scouting locations worldwide for Endless
Summer II.
- Rell Sunn
- Professional surfer. First female lifeguard in Hawaii. Known as the "Queen of
Makaha" for command of the beach and the respect that people have for her.
- Peter Townend
- Australian world surfing champion in 1976. Presently, television commentator
for surfing events on national television.
